Who we are

Wilson Precision Painting is a trading name of Ricky Thomas Wilson Pty Ltd (ABN 14 620 143 491), a residential and commercial painting business based in Ormeau, Queensland, working from the Sunshine Coast to Kingscliff. QBCC Licence No. 15129245.

In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Wilson Precision Painting. "You" means anyone who contacts us, engages us, or uses this website.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We take that approach because it is the right way to treat your details, whether or not the Act's small business threshold applies to us in a given year.

What we collect

When you ask for a quote or get in touch

Our quote form asks for your name, phone number, suburb, the type of job, and a short description of the work. If you call, text or email us instead, we collect whatever you choose to tell us — typically the same things.

When we quote and carry out work

To price and complete a job we usually need the property address, access details, the condition and measurements of the surfaces involved, and your preferences on colours, timing and payment. If you pay by bank transfer, we see the account name and reference on the payment; we do not collect or store card numbers.

Photographs of our work

We photograph work in progress and completed jobs, and we use those photos on this website, on our social media pages and in quotes. The photos are of the paintwork, not of you or your family.

We do not publish street numbers or full addresses alongside job photos. If you would prefer we did not photograph your property at all, or did not publish the photos, tell us before we start — or any time afterwards — and we will leave it out or take it down.

When you use this website

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use it. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects the pages you view, roughly how long you stay, the links you tap, your device and browser type, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address — usually accurate to the city or region, not the street. We use it in aggregate. We are not trying to identify you personally from it, and it does not tell us who you are.

Our website host also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

Why we collect it

• To prepare and send you a quote
• To contact you about your enquiry, your job, or scheduling
• To carry out the work, order the right materials, and invoice you
• To meet our record-keeping, tax, licensing and insurance obligations
• To show examples of our work to prospective clients
• To see which parts of this website are useful and which are not

We do not use your details for anything else without asking you first. We do not send marketing emails or texts unless you have asked us to.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we never will.

We share it only where we need to:

• Our team and any subcontractors working on your job — enough to get to the property and do the work
• Suppliers — where a colour match, tint or special-order product has to be placed against a job
• Our service providers — the companies that run our website, email and accounting systems, described below
• Our accountant and insurer, where relevant to a job or a claim
• Anyone we are required to disclose to by law, including the QBCC or a court

Service providers and overseas storage

This website is hosted by Netlify, and quote form submissions pass through and are stored on Netlify's systems before being emailed to us. Our email runs on Google Workspace, and our website analytics on Google Analytics. Netlify and Google both store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States.

By sending us a quote request or emailing us, you accept that your information will be handled on those overseas systems. Both providers publish their own privacy terms: Netlify and Google.

Cookies, and how to turn them off

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. The only ones this site sets are Google Analytics cookies, used to tell a returning visit from a new one. They are not used for advertising and we do not run retargeting or advertising pixels on this site.

If you would rather not be counted, you can:

• Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on
• Block or clear cookies in your browser settings
• Browse in a private or incognito window

None of this affects your ability to use the site, submit a quote request or call us.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept for around twelve months, in case you come back to us. Records relating to completed jobs — quotes, invoices, correspondence and job notes — are kept for at least seven years, which is what tax and building record-keeping obligations require. Analytics data is held for fourteen months and is not tied to your name.

Keeping it secure

Your details sit in password-protected business accounts with multi-factor authentication switched on, and this website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Access is limited to Ricky and anyone who genuinely needs it to do the job.

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us over the internet. If a data breach ever occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Getting a copy, fixing it, or having it deleted

You can ask us at any time to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct anything that is wrong, or to delete your details. Email ricky@wilsonprecisionpainting.com.au or call 0422 441 089.

We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. We may need to keep some records even after a deletion request where tax or licensing rules require it — if that applies, we will tell you which records and why.

If you have a complaint

Tell us first — email ricky@wilsonprecisionpainting.com.au with what happened and we will look into it and come back to you within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we handled it, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Links to other sites

This site links to our Google Business Profile, Facebook and Instagram pages. Once you leave this website, those companies' own privacy policies apply, not ours.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when what we do changes, or when the law does. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will let you know directly.
